Hello all, so we decided to take a road trip to Morro Bay, Ca over the weekend and we wanted to check out the #1 Seafood spot on yelp. As of the weekend of 6/11/17 the #1 spot belonged to The Galley Seafood Grill and Bar, which is connected to a small inn right on the water!
Well Here is our review of The Galley:
The Ambiance: It was of a high-class eatery designed in the nineties, with a lot of light-colored wood with some updated looks and tableware. For some reason it reminds me of some of the restaurants in the television sitcom “Frasier”, kinda had a little hope to see Niles and Frasier walk in with the muffled laughter in the background.
The Service: We were seated promptly, with only my wife and myself it’s usually easy to be seated. The placed was moderately busy with servers walking back and forth but nothing too crazy. We were seated for maybe ten minutes when i had to get a hold of a bus boy to get a waiter to take our order. Not a big issue but in a high-end restaurant one likes to be pampered right? The manager did come by to apologize so that did make it a little better knowing that they took into account their latency. They would continuously check on our water but when it came to my soft drink they were a little one the shy side, each time I had to ask for a refill, and ask for the bread and butter. Once the lunch rush was over was when our food came out, so about a 25-30 min wait for “Light Order.”
The Seafood Salad: As you can see pictured above we decided to order the “Soup and Salad” trying to be healthy. The presentation of the Seafood Salad was great, since we order the “Soup and Salad” it was a cup of Clam Chowder and a half order of a salad of your choice, we were shocked to see the size of the half-size salad. Every thing was deliciously fresh, the shrimp were firm, lobster was in clumps and the crab meat was removed perfectly from the shell. I chose the blue cheese dressing and it was great! It tasted like a house made blue cheese dressing, but it was lacking the blue cheese crumbles like every amazing house made blue cheese dressing has in it. I thoroughly enjoyed the Seafood Salad!
The Clam Chowder: The Clam Chowder boasted to be an amazing recipe that has stayed the same for many years and supposedly amazing. I believe it was a house made chowder but the viscosity of the soup was lacking the heartiness I have come to expect from a clam chowder. The flavor was buttery and rich but without that heavy cream like texture it was not up to par.
The Rating: I will give this establishment a rating of 8 out of 10 (Fat Fingers).
